Primer Selection — Forcrete
Select the correct primer based on substrate conditions and the subsequent base coat to be applied.
The primer binds surface dust, regulates substrate porosity/suction, and guarantees superior adhesion for the microcement system. Primer choice depends entirely on the substrate material and the subsequent product layer.
• The substrate must always be sound, dry, and free from dust, grease, oil, and loose material.
• Always allow the primer to dry or cure fully before moving on to the next step.
• When sand blinding, broadcast quartz sand generously into the wet primer. Sweep up and vacuum away all loose excess sand prior to troweling.
1. Primers for Walls (Monostone & Rockplaster)
Fast-drying deep-penetrating primer for absorbent walls (plasterboard, render, and absorbent boards) before applying Monostone XL or L.
Blue, ready-mixed silica grip primer for painted walls, vinyl sheet, and tiles before applying Monostone XL or L.
2. Epoxy Primers for Floors, Concrete & Tiles
2-component epoxy primer for tile floors, vinyl sheet, and worktops where maximum adhesion and moisture blocking are required.
Combined primer and base coat for concrete and self-leveling screed when you want to embed mesh and prime in the same step.
3. Primer for Decorative Walls (Prior to XT & Coarse)
Waterborne 2-component epoxy primer for absorbent walls in dry, decorative areas before troweling Microbase XT or Microquartz Coarse.
