Mixing Guide for Resin, Cement & Pigment
Instructions for proper preparation, quantity calculations, and step-by-step mixing.
1. Prior to Mixing
Ensure both the resin and cement are at room temperature (+15 °C to +25 °C) before you begin mixing.
Cold materials make the mixture stiffer and harder to work with, and can impart an unwanted bluish undertone to the finished surface.

2. Batch Quantities & Adjustments
Use our mixing app to calculate the correct proportions of Acricem Resin, powder, and pigment.
💡 Recommendation — Reduce Quantity in the App:
Enter 80% of the calculated surface area as your starting point in the app. Experienced applicators typically consume around 70–80% of standard coverage rates.
Example: If you need to mix material for 10 m², enter 8 m² in the app.

Adjusting Resin Quantity:
The amount of resin can be adjusted by approximately ±10% depending on desired viscosity:
• For floors: Add approx. 10% extra resin for a more fluid and workable mix.
• For walls: The standard recipe from the app normally performs exceptionally well.

⚠️ Please note: Do not add more than 10% extra resin as this increases the risk of air bubbles. Reducing resin content by more than 5% significantly shortens pot life / working time in the bucket.
3. Step-by-Step Mixing Process
Step 1
Weigh Out Resin: Measure and weigh out the specified amount of Acricem Resin into a clean mixing container.
Step 2
Prepare Pigment: Shake the pigment bottle thoroughly beforehand and open carefully. Do not pour concentrated dry pigment directly over resin in a way that causes clumping. Close the cap immediately after dosing to prevent the pigment from drying inside the bottle.

Step 3
Add Pigment: Add pigment according to the recipe. Always use an accurate precision scale on smaller batches to guarantee exact shade matching.
Step 4
Blend Pigment and Resin: Mix the pigment thoroughly into the liquid. Ensure all pigment dissolves completely into a homogeneous color before adding any powder.
Step 5
Add Powder: Weigh out the powder into a separate bucket and add it gradually under continuous agitation.
Step 6
Initial Mixing: Mix at low speed for approx. 1 minute. Scrape down the bucket sides to ensure all dry powder and pigment are incorporated into the mix. A helical / spiral paddle mixer is recommended.
Step 7
Final Mixing: Mix for an additional minimum 3 minutes until the cement paste is entirely smooth and lump-free.
Step 8
Let the Mixture Rest: Allow the mixed cement to rest for approx. 5 minutes prior to troweling so that entrained air bubbles from mixing can rise to the surface and dissipate.
✨ Important Note on Mixing Buckets:
• Avoid Black Builder’s Buckets / Mortar Tubs: Do not use buckets made from soft recycled plastic, as they shed black plastic shavings and debris when the paddle strikes the inner sides during mixing.
• Clean Tools: A spotless mixing paddle and rigid white or translucent plastic buckets are essential to avoid unintended pigment spots and ensure a completely uniform finish.
