Practical guide for pore filling and surface pre-treatment with Forshield FX prior to topcoat application.
π‘ About Forshield FX:
Forshield FX is a ready-mixed 1-component paste used to fill micropores and achieve a smoother, calmer finish. The product replaces the first coat of topcoat and provides a more uniform surface aesthetic by softening tonal variations and texture activity.

- Applications: Used as the first coat on smooth surfaces to reduce texture activity, and always as the mandatory initial protective coat on Microstone and Microgranite in dry areas.
- Properties: Effectively fills micropores and provides strong UV resistance. Can be used neutral or blended with FX pigments for custom effects.
- System Setup: Forshield FX is applied exclusively as coat 1 and must always be sealed with Forshield 2KWB or Forshield Ultra as the final topcoat.

β’ Working Temperature: Material, substrate, and ambient room air must be between +10 Β°C and +25 Β°C (do not apply below +5 Β°C).
β’ Storage: Store frost-free. Shelf life is 12 months in unopened containers.
β’ Pot Life / Open Time: Approximately 60 minutes at +20 Β°C once opened.

1. Preparation

Drying Time: The microcement must dry for at least 18 hours before application begins.
2.
Sanding: Sand the surface to the desired finish. Do not leave floor areas too coarse, as excessive texture makes them difficult to clean.

Vacuuming & Dry-Wiping: Vacuum and dry-mop the substrate thoroughly. Then wipe the entire area with a dry microfiber cloth to ensure all residual sanding dust is removed.
2. Mixing
π§ͺ Handling:
β’ The paste is pre-mixed and ready to use directly from the container.
β’ If adding FX pigment: mix thoroughly with a paddle mixer at low speed (approx. 300β400 rpm) for at least 3 minutes until completely homogenous.

3. Application

Trowel Application: Spread the paste thinly and evenly using a plastic trowel or flexible rubber squeegee. Press the material into the micropores without building unnecessary surface film.

Full Coverage (No Missed Spots): Pay close attention to avoid missing any areas. An untreated spot will cause noticeable color variations when the topcoat is applied over it. Step back occasionally during application to verify complete coverage.
3.
Scrape Clean (No Ridges): Leave no ridges or excess paste behind, as thick spots remain soft and will show through after sealing. Scrape tight so only the pores remain filled.
4.
Touching Up: If an area was missed, touch it up using a finger and let it dry. Touch-ups are typically invisible, but the spot must be allowed to dry fully before sealing.
Drying Times & Next Step: Topcoat
β’ Foot Traffic / Light Load: The surface is walkable after approx. 2 hours.
β’ Drying Time Before Topcoat: Allow Forshield FX to dry for approx. 3 hours before applying Forshield 2KWB or Forshield Ultra.
β’ Intermediate Sanding (For Best Results): Lightly de-nib the surface with a 180β220 grit sanding screen and dry-mop thoroughly with a microfiber cloth before rolling the 2KWB sealer.
β’ Drying Time Before Topcoat: Allow Forshield FX to dry for approx. 3 hours before applying Forshield 2KWB or Forshield Ultra.
β’ Intermediate Sanding (For Best Results): Lightly de-nib the surface with a 180β220 grit sanding screen and dry-mop thoroughly with a microfiber cloth before rolling the 2KWB sealer.
π Safety & Protective Equipment:
β’ Wear nitrile gloves and safety glasses during handling.
β’ Clean tools immediately with water while the paste is fresh.
β’ Store frost-free and keep out of reach of children.
